A vocal chord vibrates, body resonates, and the scream is released, shaking everything in its path.
"El Grito" (the scream), Cumbia Chicharra's 4th album, came like this, from the bottom of the heart and at full strength. Like an orgasm, a deliverance, a collective trance or a clamor of resistance... a scream for each stage of life.
The 8 musicians and the sound director of the band each have their own influences and their strong characters.
These new compositions were born by patiently building their unity, their unanimity and their musical complementarity.
Cumbia as an epicenter, and a whole world to amplify the sismic shakes : Caribbean, Andean, Afro-American or oriental music, the love of dance, the taste of dub, rock, and electronics in a trance of percussion.
Each song claims its autonomy and launches bridges : oriental delirium (Chikilin, Polleromax), brassy hip hop (Amigo Publico), cumbia dub either lascivous (Fugitivo) or shamanic (Grito Animal), percussionists carnival (Dia Maldito). And, as a central hub, the cumbia tipica of accordion and horns (Guaton Feliz, ¿Quien es?).
Since its first distributed album (2009), Cumbia Chicharra traces its fruitful musical path, to finally press it on a vinyl record. "El Grito" will be the first Cumbia Chicharra record to be released in this format as well.
Their previous album, "Hijo de tigre" (2018) was very well received (3000 copies sold, over one million streamings) and continues to be playlisted on several radio stations and platforms in Europe and Latin America (Brazil, Peru, Mexico, Chile, Belgium, Sweden, Spain, Germany,
Live act, which is both the driving force and the group's favorite playground, is finally coming back this summer with many shows and the official release concerts in Marseille, Sept 17th, and in Paris, Nov 18th, 2021.
